A family trip to visit one of the most beautiful aquariums in the world
Are you looking for a fun and enjoyable family day out?
The Guadeloupe aquarium opened in 1987 and is the largest aquarium in the Caribbean. The tour focuses on the sheer wealth of the marine world of Guadeloupe.
During your visit, you will discover the local marine life through the large variety of species on display and the explanations available.
If you decide to plan your visit in advance, come at around 4:00 pm because this is feeding time for the nurse sharks. The children will be impressed!
The protection of the environment is one of the most important topics on the agenda today. As well as providing information on the fragility of the ocean depths, the aquarium regularly fosters sea turtles and other wounded species that they nurse back to health, to then be released into the wild.
The aquarium is also home to three associations which it provides funding to:
The IGREC mer is an association that works to restore marine ecosystems through various projects, particularly focusing on the care of sea turtles.
The Fond Bleus association brings together and sponsors environmental protection projects.
And finally the école de la mer educates children and makes them aware of the marine environment. They organize week-long courses during the school vacations with workshops, games and field trips out to sea.
